 The pan has a patina pre-burnt with vegetable oil - please do not wash the pan with detergent, otherwise you will destroy the patina. Make sure to always dry the pan thoroughly, otherwise - as is usual with uncoated cast iron - rust can form (of course this does not affect the function).
